IS LIFE TAKING YOU TO NEW PLACES?

--Have you moved houses or changed jobs recently? Or are you about to make such a change?

If so, you may be experiencing ‘Relocation Dislocation’ marked by some or all of the following:

  • A sense that life as you have known it has come or is about to come to an end, bringing anxiety, insecurity, and uncertainty.
  • Catastrophising’ about the unknown, perhaps to the point of panic.
  • Confusion and ambivalence over what you want, even if the change is one you initiated.
  • Loss or reconsideration of identity: Who AM I in this new place/position?
  • Feelings of inadequacy and awkwardness, as your old ways of doing things no longer get the job done and may even get in the way.
  • Desire to return to the known or perhaps hide under your bed until the discomfort passes, leading to possible isolation and alienation.
  • A narrowed focus on survival, self-absorption, or temporary inability to see things from the wider perspective.
  • Misguided attempts at self-comfort through unhealthy eating, drinking, shopping, or other undesirable habits.
  • Feelings of sadness or grief.
  • Unfavorable comparisons between what was and what is that make it hard to see new opportunities.
  • Anger or rage at the situation, yourself, or others, particularly where the move is NOT one you want.
  • Impatience with yourself or others: Let’s get this show on the road!
  • Numbing of feelings or a strange sense of detachment: Where am I and who cares?
  • A belief or sense that you will NEVER feel at home, at ease, or established in this new place.

If you answered ‘yes’ to three or more of these questions, you’ll want to discover how to Come Home to Yourself no matter where life takes you, through:

  • Identifying and claiming your strengths.
  • Managing your ‘inner critic,’ or the voice of self-doubt, anxiety, and confusion, to clear obstacles in your path.
  • Creating an internal ‘safe place’ from which you can venture out into new settings and seize opportunities.
  • Igniting your imagination to visualize possibility.
  • Fostering the ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness you may not have known were yours.
  • Inviting the power, boldness, and maybe even ‘wildness’ of your own inner wisdom and authority.
